Polytetrafluoroethylene is an inert thermoplastic fluorinated carbon polymer, with special qualities: very low friction coefficient, working temperature range -200 and up to +260C, very high chemical resistance, low friction coefficient, possibility to be used without lubricants, it is anti-inflammatory. Due to the special chemical resistance, PTFE products cannot be bonded with any existing adhesive, to make the bonding possible the semi-finished product is subjected to a cementation process, however some of the Teflon semi-finished products can be welded with special equipment and techniques for PTFE.
